The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team will recommend a second-degree murder charge against the 22-year-old suspect in an incident in White Rock on Sunday night.

Police were called to the 900 block of Ash Street shortly after 7 p.m. following reports of a fight. White Rock RCMP found two injured women and one injured man inside the building.

The female victims were transported to hospital, where they were treated and released. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

In its release on Monday afternoon, IHIT said it would not release the cause of death. Police also haven't released the names of the suspect or the victims.

IHIT will recommend two counts of assault causing bodily harm against the suspect, the release said.

The suspect was seen throwing objects and knives off the balcony of the home. He fled on foot and was apprehended by White Rock RCMP a short time later.

Police say they saw several witnesses in the area at the time. They are asking the witnesses who haven’t yet spoken to police to come forward. They also ask anyone with information about the homicide to contact IHIT at 877-551-4448 or Crimestoppers at 800-222-8477.
