A 61-year-old man accused of going on a shooting rampage in downtown Vancouver this summer made a court appearance today.

Gerald Battersby faces six counts of attempted murder and was appeared via video link in B.C. provincial court Tuesday.

Battersby allegedly went on a shooting rampage on June 10 that started outside his former employer Paul Dragan’s bike shop on Davie Street.

Police allege he shot Dragan and then jumped on a bicycle, riding toward Science World at the east end of False Creek.

A dramatic shootout ensued between the suspect and police and one officer was struck by gunfire.

Battersby was eventually taken into custody.
