Homicide investigators are urging anyone who witnessed a murder at a Burnaby SkyTrain station last weekend to come forward.

The victim, who has been identified as 27-year-old James Enright, was killed after getting in an altercation with a group of strangers at Edmonds Station early Sunday morning.

“This was a situation where Mr. Enright was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Sgt. Stephanie Ashton said in a statement. “He died because he tried to help someone.”

The North Vancouver resident was rushed to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took conduct of the case, and has already spoken to a number of people who were in the area at the time – but believes there are others who haven’t spoken up.

“We know there are more who were in the area at the time,” Ashton said.

Anyone who was in the area of Edmonds Station or the adjoining bus loop between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. on Feb. 15th is asked to call the IHIT tip line at 1-877-551-IHIT or email. (ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca)
