A person of interest in Vancouver’s sixth homicide of the year has been charged with dangerous driving and fleeing from an officer after a vehicle collided with a police car in East Vancouver early Thursday morning.
Const. Brian Montague said Lance Wraye Standberg -- a 47-year-old Burnaby man -- may be connected to a fatal stabbing Wednesday night in the 3400-block of Renfrew Street.
Police said a man in his 50s was found in the alley behind an apartment building at 9 p.m. A 911 caller notified police after hearing screaming from the alley.
Officers noticed Standberg allegedly driving erratically at around 4 a.m. Thursday. According to Montague he collided with a police car at East Broadway and Slocan Street after a short pursuit in which he failed to stop for officers.
Standberg remains in custody and is set to appear in court on Aug. 14.
