Nudists from across North America are attempting to set the record today for the world's largest skinny-dip -- with some taking the plunge in Surrey, B.C.

People baring it all ran into the ocean at Crescent Rock Naturist Beach at 1 p.m. while skinny-dippers held similar events across the continent.

The American Association for Nude Recreation and The Naturist Society say for participants to be counted, they must be completely nude during the plunge.

The current Guinness World Record for the largest number of people simultaneously in the water without swimsuits is 14,288, set in 2010.
