Police are searching for the gunman after a man was shot near the Royal Oak SkyTrain station in Burnaby, B.C.

Burnaby RCMP received a call around 5:10 p.m. on Tuesday after the shooting and the victim was taken to hospital, Sgt. Ted DeJager told ctvbc.ca. The victim's condition is unknown, but his injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

DeJager said officers were canvassing the scene and interviewing witnesses.

DeJager said it was too early to say whether the shooting was targeted or if the victim was known to police.

"We will be interviewing the victim, but medical treatment takes priority," he said.

No arrests have been made in the shooting.
