A former foster home care worker has been charged in connection with two sex assaults against teenaged boys.

The investigation began after Richmond RCMP received information that the man was engaging in "inappropriate behaviour" with several children in his care.

One alleged victim, 17, lives at a foster home for mentally challenged youth where the accused works as a contract night relief worker.

Another, a 16-year-old boy, has known the accused for several years. The second victim does not live at the foster home where the first assault allegedly happened.

Charges of sexual assault and sexual exploitation were approved against Kevin Fanning, 50, on Dec. 22. Fanning, who has no previous criminal record, was released the next day on strict conditions and is due to appear in court on Jan. 19.

Meanwhile, the Richmond Serious Crimes Unit says it is interviewing other youth who may have been in Fanning's care. RCMP say further charges may be possible.
