An evacuation alert for West Kelowna, B.C., has ended after firefighters contained a blaze that broke out over the weekend.

Residents living on Rose Valley Road and Bear Creek Road were on alert Sunday afternoon because of a fire in Traders Cove, an area bordering Bear Creek Provincial Park. They were assured Monday morning that they would not have to leave their homes.

Fire crews battled the blaze overnight. The fire was reported around 1 p.m. Sunday, and firefighters from West Kelowna were assisted by crews and air tankers from Kamloops.

No structural damage has been reported as a result of the blaze, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
