British Columbia has a new minister of state for multiculturalism.

Premier Christy Clark has appointed John Yap to the job, following the recent resignation of Harry Bloy.

Bloy, a supporter of Clark during her leadership bid, held the post until he resigned earlier this month for sharing an email with a party donor.

Yap has been serving as the chair of a committee that's examining the current system of economic immigration to Canada.

Clark has also announced that radiologist and nuclear-medicine physician Moira Stilwell will serve as the parliamentary secretary to the minister of health.

Rob Howard who chairs the select standing committee on finance and government services is the new parliamentary secretary to the minister of transportation.
