A child has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood Sunday afternoon.

Not much is known about the incident, but Transit Police sent out a tweet that confirmed the child, whose age and gender are unknown, was taken to BC Children’s Hospital.

Police haven’t confirmed any details, but one man posted on Facebook his account of the “terrible” accident, which reportedly happened near the intersection of Davie and Pacific Streets.

“One of the vehicles, a small SUV careened into the corner sidewalk and ran over a child waiting on a bike. The crying and wailing was heart rending,” wrote Craig Addy.

He said the child became pinned under the vehicle, but bystanders quickly ran over and lifted it off.

Multiple witnesses said another car involved in the accident left the scene.
