Video has surfaced online of a motorcyclist driving down an escalator at Guildford Town Centre in Surrey during a police chase last month.

The dramatic surveillance footage shows the biker zooming from the mall's rooftop parking lot down an escalator and toward a Walmart  entrance, where young children have to dodge out of his way.

Two men, at least one of whom appears to be an RCMP officer, can be seen giving chase.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Mounties said the incident took place the afternoon of Feb. 20 as officers searched for a motorcyclist who failed to pull over after driving recklessly through the city.

The biker, who is described as a white man in his 40s, fled the mall and was last seen at the border between Langley and Surrey around 192nd Street and 96 Avenue.

The RCMP eventually found a motorcycle believed to have been used in the dangerous stunt, but have yet to locate the driver.

"Hopefully somebody knows who that individual is and they're prepared to give us a call," Sgt. Dale Carr said.

Footage of the incident turned up early Friday morning on the website LiveLeak.com. Mounties said the footage was meant to be shared privately, but was posted publicly by accident.

"We're looking into that and how it happened and we're going to take the steps to ensure it doesn't happen again," Carr said.

It also includes footage tracking the biker’s movements from the RCMP’s Air One helicopter and from a cruiser's dash cam.

Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
