The BC Coroners Service has identified the 11-year-old boy killed Friday afternoon in a tragic accident at a bible camp near Grand Forks.

Christina Lake resident Richard Fehr died after a falling tree crushed his wood cabin during a windstorm at the Pines Bible Camp shortly before 5 p.m.

His next of kin has been notified, and the Coroners Service issued a statement Monday offering condolences to Fehr’s family, friends and fellow campers.

Pines Bible Camp director Gene Krahn described the victim Saturday as a “wonderful little boy” who had attended camp before and will be missed.

Approximately 90 children were at the summer camp when the storm hit, but it has since been closed due to extensive property damage and is not expected to reopen this season.

No other serious injuries were reported.

The Coroners Service’s investigation into Fehr’s death is ongoing.
