Homicide police are investigating after a body was discovered in the trunk of a car in Burnaby, B.C., on Saturday afternoon.

The abandoned car was reported to police at 3 p.m. in the 4000-block of Dominion Street. Patrol officers found the body of a man, believed to be in his 20s, in the trunk, and called in the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team to take over, Cpl. Dale Carr said.

The deceased has not been identified.

The cause of death has not been determined, but Carr said police are treating it as suspicious. An autopsy will be performed early next week.

Carr said there is currently nothing to suggest ties to gangs, drugs or organized crime.
