Mounties are investigating a tragic crash that claimed the lives of three young men outside Hope early Friday morning.

The trio were in a car travelling westbound on the Trans-Canada Highway when it slammed into the Hunter Creek Weigh Scale building around 4 a.m.  The impact flipped the vehicle upside-down.

A passing truck driver noticed the wreckage and reported it to police, but all three occupants were dead by the time emergency responders arrived.

The cause of the crash hasn’t been determined, but the RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstruction Section and Fraser Valley Traffic Services are investigating, as is the B.C. Coroners Service.

The names and ages of the victims have not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP at 604-702-4039.
