Police probing the murder of a Vancouver mother-of-five have announced a hefty reward for information leading to the arrest of their prime suspect.

Officers have been searching for 42-year-old Daniel Alphonse Paul since his girlfriend Rose Paul was found dead in his East Vancouver home two weeks ago.

The cause of death hasn’t been released, but Insp. Laurence Rankins said the victim suffered a “violent murder.”

On Tuesday, police promised a reward of up to $10,000, provided by the Vancouver Police Board, for anyone who can help them find Paul and take him into custody.

“Police also want to deter anyone from committing the criminal offence of being an accessory by assisting in hiding Daniel,” Rankin told reporters at a press conference.

Authorities warn that Paul has a history of committing violent crimes, and should not be approached if spotted.

“Other women in the community may be at risk if Daniel is not found and taken into custody,” Rankin said. “He is to be considered dangerous.”

The 36-year-old victim’s sister and uncle appeared alongside police Tuesday to make a tearful plea for information about where Paul’s hiding.

They described the deceased as a nurturing person who cared for others the way she did her five daughters, who were between the ages of eight and 19.

“She was very beautiful and outgoing, very loving, helpful to all the young girls,” Candace Paul said.

The suspect is described as Aboriginal, 5’8” tall, with a medium build, brown eyes, and short black hair. He has tattoos of an eagle, a rat, a knife, a skull and a buffalo on his left arm, and tattoos of a skull with a rose and a heart on his right arm.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
