Summer is almost officially here and that means months of fun in the sun are ahead of us. Mastermind Toys, one of Canada’s biggest toy retailers, has come out with its annual list of the top 25 toys for summer. The themes for this summer’s list are getting outside and staying cool.

One of the top water toy picks is the Max Liquidator Hydro Blaster Double Drencher. It costs about $22 and is for ages six and up. The blaster shoots two streams of water up to nine metres. It has a foam-covered body and can float in a pool.

If you’re looking to have a water fight, the Bunch O Balloons will help you in that department. It’s a hose attachment with 37 pre-connected balloons that will automatically tie themselves closed with self-sealing bands once they’ve been filled. It’s available for $26 and recommended for ages six and up.

On the pricier end of the spectrum, there’s the Ripsurf, designed to simulate the feeling of surfing on land. Its design allows riders to feel like they’re carving waves as if on a real surfboard, except on caster wheels. This costs about $170 and is for ages eight and up.

If your family loves bubbles and also has a sweet tooth, there’s the Candylicious Edible Bubbles toy. The bubble making machine uses a solution that has no dyes, is non-toxic and won’t stain your clothes. It’s for ages five and up and costs about $6. It’s designed for you to catch the bubbles on your tongue. If you’d prefer the bubble making without the candy, Mastermind recommends the Fubbles Bubbles Fubblezooka, available for about $18 and recommended for ages three and up.

On a rainy day when you’re stuck inside, Mastermind Toys recommends reaching for crafts and games. With the Orb Factory Fuzzeez Kits, you can make your own stuffed animals. It costs about $17 and is for ages six and up. Kids fill a reusable mold with wool, spray the wool, close the mold, and then pop it in the washer and dryer. Then, voila! You have made a dog, cat or bear stuffed animal.
