Surrey RCMP are in search of what they are calling a person of interest after a string of armed, violent robberies earlier this month.

Six Surrey stores or gas stations were held up between Nov.15 and 17. In one instance, two gas station employees were shot.

A 70-year old worker and his 19-year old colleague were sent to hospital with serious gunshot wounds after the robbery.

Police say they want to speak with 21-year old Shane Steven Gidon of Chilliwack, B.C. Gidon has a shaved head, and a tattoo with his name on his inner arm.

Investigators are asking that Gidon visit the Surrey RCMP detachment, as they believe he may have information relative to the investigation.

RCMP are asking the public not to approach Gidon.

After the robberies, Surrey RCMP went door to door Wednesday to warn businesses.

Ironically the crime spree comes on the heels of a report to Surrey City Council highlighting the successes of the city's crime reduction strategy.

Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts told CTV News she doesn't think the police and the city have done enough to reduce crime in the area. "No I don't," she said, when asked to comment on the issue.

Watts says she's setting up a meeting between business owners, the police and the city to try and change that.
