Members of B.C.'s Independent Investigations Office have been called to North Vancouver after a police dog seriously injured a man.

The office says Mounties in North Vancouver sent a dog to track the man after he fled from them while an investigation was underway.

The man needed hospital treatment for the bite wound following yesterday afternoon's incident.

The Independent Investigations Office is called whenever police in B.C. are involved in matters that lead to serious injury or death.
