A nine-hour police standoff on Knight Street that blocked traffic on the busy Vancouver thoroughfare Friday morning has ended with the discovery of a suspected marijuana grow-op.

Officers arrived at a residence in the 5800-block at around 12:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting suspicious activity, but the occupants refused to leave the home when they arrived.

The busy street was closed from 41st to 49th avenues while negotiators and members of the Emergency Response Team tried to coax them outside.

Const. Jana McGuinness said several people were eventually removed and taken into custody for questioning after evidence of a grow-op was found in the home.

No injuries were reported, and the street was reopened before noon.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid.
