A seven-year-old girl had to be airlifted to hospital Monday afternoon after she was hit by a car at B.C.'s Peace Arch border crossing.

Police say she was walking with her mother when she was hit by a slow-moving car outside a duty-free shop. Her injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

Traffic had to be stopped in both directions to allow an air ambulance to land, causing major delays at the border.
