The inquiry commission into the investigation of the bombing of Air India Flight 182 will release its final report in Ottawa on June 17.

In all, 329 people aboard the flight from Canada to Bombay were killed in 1985 when a suitcase with a bomb inside took down the plane over the coast of Ireland.

Ajaib Singh Bagri and Ripudaman Singh Malik were charged and tried for murder. The Crown contended that Sikh extremists in British Columbia planned to attack Air India planes in order to take revenge against the Indian government. The two men were acquitted in 2004.

Inderjit Singh Reyat pleaded guilty to manslaughter and is the only person convicted in the bombing.

Talwinder Singh Parmar was the alleged organizer of the attack and the leader of the Babbar Khalsa, a group believed to be a terrorist organization by the Canadian government. He was killed by police in India in 1992.
