Murder charge laid in Saddle Lake Cree Nation killing

Police have laid murder charges in the killing of a Saddle Lake Cree Nation man on Wednesday.

Mounties found 61-year-old Garvin Lloyd Chisan seriously injured at a home on Saddle Lake Cree Nation after they were called there for reports of a stabbing.

Chisan was taken by air ambulance to an Edmonton hospital, but he died later that day.

RCMP said 44-year-old Saddle Lake Cree Nation resident Jeremy Shaun Cardinal was arrested on Friday.

He has been charged with first-degree murder.

Cardinal was remanded into custody. He is expected to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lac la Biche on Tuesday.
