An RCMP officer who accidentally fired a bullet into her neighbour's Langley, B.C. residence will appear in court Jan. 19 to face charges of careless use of a firearm.

Dawn Adams was off-duty last July when she accidentally fired her service weapon inside her home.

The bullet entered a neighbouring residence and came to rest in a bathroom door frame.

The occupants of the neighbouring suite were home at the time, but were not injured.

Langley RCMP conducted the investigation and submitted their findings to Crown Counsel.

The Crown approved the charges against Adams Friday.
