The discovery of two bodies inside an East Vancouver home is now being treated as a double homicide.
Officers were called to a home on Dieppe Place around 10 p.m. Saturday night and found a deceased man and woman inside.
Police remained tight-lipped about the discovery, and the cause of death was not made public.
The identities of the victims have not been released, and the VPD has not said whether they are looking for a suspect.
Residents living in the area woke up Sunday morning to police tape cordoning off their homes.
“We don't know anything about it. I don't think anybody knows in our neighbourhood. Everybody's shocked,” said Nives Kinkala, who has lived in the area since 1973.
“I thought it was a safe neighbourhood, and it seems like really nice people around here. But you never know I guess,” said Roberto, who preferred to keep his last name anonymous.
On Monday, Sgt. Randy Fincham said the investigation is now proceeding as a homicide probe.
“Police now believe that the man and woman were murdered,” he said in a statement.
The deaths mark the 6th and 7th homicides of 2016 in Vancouver.
