Police are asking the public to help identify two young women accused of yelling racial slurs and attacking someone at the Granville SkyTrain Station earlier this year.

The suspects were allegedly harassing non-Caucasians at the station’s lower-concourse level around 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 19 when another woman politely asked them to stop.

Police said the suspects responded by “viciously” attacking her, throwing punches, knocking her to the ground, kicking her and grabbing her hair.

“She managed to break free and left the area,” Transit Police said in a statement. “The victim, who was naturally very upset, suffered cuts and bruises, a black eye and injuries to one arm.”

She was treated for her injuries in hospital.

The suspects then boarded a westbound train heading for Waterfront Station, according to police.

On Monday, more than two months after the assault, police released surveillance images of the women in the hopes of drumming up new tips.

Both women are described as white, in their early 20s, with long, straight, brown hair and brown eyes. Police said one has a medium build and the other is slimmer, and both were wearing black mini-dresses the night of the attack.

One also had a light-coloured denim jacket and high heels on, and was carrying a black and white clutch purse, while the other had a black jacket, brown bootie-style high heels, and a white clutch purse.

Police said their investigation up to this point has yet to produce any productive leads.

Anyone who may have witnessed the attack, or who has information on the suspects’ identities, is asked to call Transit Police at 604-515-8300.
