A hazmat team has been sent to clean up suspected drug lab materials that were dumped in an East Vancouver laneway Tuesday.

Firefighters said a dozen five-gallon pails and a dozen garbage bags were found near Dumfries Street and 33rd Avenue, and they appear to come from a clandestine drug lab.

It’s unclear what kind of drug was likely being produced.

Authorities blocked off the area surrounding the materials and part of 33rd Avenue was closed as police investigated the discovery.
