Medical marijuana users are being warned not to smoke a strain of B.C. bud called “Purple Kush” following what’s believed to be Health Canada’s first-ever pot recall.

Anyone who possesses a batch of the strain from Greenleaf Medicinals labelled PK-10-20-13 is advised to stop using it immediately after the grower ordered a voluntary recall this month.

“The recall is due to issues with the company’s production practices which were identified during an inspection by Health Canada and may impact the product,” Health Canada said in an advisory.

Greenleaf Medicinals said it’s working with other licensed growers to help supply users who are impacted by the recall.

Medical marijuana growers are subject to similar inspections, controls and reporting requirements as other producers of controlled substances, according to Health Canada.
