1. Close call: Two men had a narrow escape on Monday after they dodged an out-of-control truck that ploughed into the house the men were working on. Michael Stadther said he “just took off outside the door” after seeing the truck speed through the gates. “We knew it was coming through the house,” he said.
2. iHand? A Vancouver man has taken society’s obsession with technology a step further by implanting a chip on his left hand that shows his personal data when scanned.
3. Drone issues: Vancouver airport officials are once again warning the public about using drones in restricted airspace after one was spotted late Sunday afternoon. Bill Yearwood with the Transportation Safety Board says that in some cases, drones around airports can be “catastrophic”.
4. Body found on Salt Spring: The RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating after a body was found on Salt Spring Island over the weekend.
5. Small but vocal: A group of animal activists gathered outside Honda Centre Monday night to call for the suspension of Clayton Stoner, the NHL defenceman facing charges of illegally hunting a grizzly bear in B.C. Wildlife groups and First Nation leaders have been outraged over the bear kill.
