Police say a young mother who disappeared in Burnaby last month may have been murdered.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the probe into the disappearance of Yating (Lancy) Hu after receiving information leading police to believe that foul play is involved in the missing person's case.

The 27-year-old, who has two young children, was last seen on the evening of July 15, when she was dropped off at her apartment near Metrotown Mall by her husband.

She hasn't been seen since.

Hu was reported missing three days later by her husband. The couple is currently separated, and the children were in the care of the husband at the time of Hu's disappearance.

She does not have a vehicle and often uses public transportation. She is described as 5-7 tall, 119 pounds with shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes. Hu speaks English and Mandarin.
