A 21-year-old man has drowned in what appears to be a tragic accident in Golden Ears Provincial Park.
The young Port Coquitlam resident died while swimming in Alouette Lake Thursday afternoon. Reports suggest he may have been underwater for 20 minutes before being discovered.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene at around 3:45 p.m., but could not revive him.
The young man’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities say there is no indication he was met with foul play, but the investigation is still in its early stages.
