A 20-year-old B.C. man who fell off a SkyTrain platform over the weekend has died of his injuries, Transit Police confirmed Monday.

Roberts Creek resident Connor Alexander Richey was sitting on a railing at the raised Commercial-Broadway Station on Saturday evening when he fell backwards and plummeted roughly 30 feet to the sidewalk.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries and passed away Sunday afternoon.

Police said Richey appears to have lost his balance, and they do not suspect foul play.

The young man was with his girlfriend after watching a Vancouver Whitecaps soccer game at BC Place.

The incident is being investigated by Transit Police and the BC Coroners Service. Anyone witnesses who have not spoken to police are asked to call investigators 604-515-8300.
