Mounties are asking the public to help locate a 20-year-old woman from Vanderhoof, B.C. who disappeared during a late-night party over the weekend.

Madison Scott drove to the party at Hogsback Lake on Friday with the intention of camping overnight, Sgt. Rob Vermeulen told ctvbc.ca.

Her family reported her missing Sunday afternoon, saying she hadn't returned from her trip or called. They say her disappearance is out of character, and are fraught waiting for word of her whereabouts.

Partygoers have told police they last saw Scott at around 3 a.m., but no one recalls seeing her leave.

Vermeulen said police have recovered her tent and truck, but found no sign of the young woman.

Mounties and Search and Rescue teams from nearby Prince George, Burns Lake and Fort St. James have been scouring the area surrounding Hogsback Lake, located about 25 kilometres south of Vanderhoof, since Sunday.

Vermeulen said Mounties must explore every possibility, and that a water rescue team has also been called.

"The positive is that the weather has been good," Vermeulen said. "That will assist with the search... we're hoping for the best."

Scott is described as 5-4 tall, Caucasian, 170 lbs. with red hair. She was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and blue jean Capri pants.

Anyone who may have seen Scott early Saturday morning but has not spoken to Mounties is urged to call Vanderhoof RCMP at 250-567-2222.
