Vancouver police are requesting the public’s help with an investigation into a crash that hospitalized a woman last week.

The incident occurred just after 8:30 a.m., Dec. 7, said the Vancouver Police Department in a release issued Wednesday.

A 68-year-old woman was crossing Cambie Street at West 57th Avenue when she was struck by a car, resulting in serious, life-altering injuries, say police.

The motorist, driving a black GMC Sierra, remained at the scene. Speed or the driver’s impairment aren’t considered factors in the crash, the statement said.

“This collision occurred during a busy time of day where there would be a lot of pedestrian and vehicle traffic,” says Const. Tania Visintin.

“We are asking witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to get in touch with investigators as quickly as possible.”

Anyone who believes they may have information related to the crash is asked to call the police department’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
