A 52-year-old woman has died in a head-on collision near Cranbrook, B.C. Wednesday morning.

Mounties said the crash happened at around 7:30 a.m. when a minivan travelling north on Highway 3 crossed the centre line and hit a semi truck.

The driver of the minivan escaped the crash with minor injuries but the passenger was trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
