One woman was found murdered in a home in East Vancouver Saturday afternoon.

Officials confirmed the homicide, the sixth murder of the year in Vancouver, occurred at a home on East 41st Avenue near Rupert Street.

The 27-year-old woman, identified by police as Thi Tam Nguyen was a resident of the house. The son of the deceased woman, a four-year-old boy, is in police care.

"We have a large number of officers dealing with this investigation," said Cst. Brian Montague of the Vancouver Police Department. "We are working with other police departments, our emergency response team is involved. Beyond that I can tell you it's a priority, we want to get the person involved in custody."

No arrests have been made and police are not releasing the cause of death.

Police said the incident is not random and the investigation is ongoing.
