The Vancouver Whitecaps (5W-2L-5D) are on the road again against the Athletic Club of St. Louis (2W-7L-1D) in the third game of a five-match road trip. The two clubs renew their USSF D-2 League rivalry Saturday at the Anheuser-Busch Centre in Missouri.

The Whitecaps now lead the NASL Conference after a comeback win against Austin Aztec on June 12. Vancouver also played to a 1-1 draw against the Puerto Rico Islanders on June 16.

Teitur Thordarson's club are on a roll, undefeated in their last five matches. The blue and white showed great conditioning in 40 degree Celsius temperatures in Austin, Texas and Puerto Rico, finishing both games with energy.

Vancouver native Alex Elliott joined the club this month. Marcus Haber, who came to Vancouver via loan, is back in England with West Bromwich Albion FC.

Elliott is a former Canadian U-20 international player with versatility. He plays on either wide flank or as a striker, right down the middle.

In St. Louis, fans are fueled by the excitement of having professional outdoor soccer team for the first time in 33 years. However, the club is now plagued with uncertainty after financial backers from Britain withdrew their support.

St. Louis did snap a four-match losing streak against Puerto Rico on June 12.

Saturday's matchup is the second ever meeting between the Whitecaps and St. Louis. Vancouver stole the first meeting on April 24 at home with a 1-0 win.

Vancouver hopes to build on recent success and carry their unbeaten streak into Quebec when they match up with Montreal Impact on June 30.
