The Vancouver Whitecaps (5W-2L-6D) play the fourth of a five game road trip against the Montreal Impact (4W-3L-5D) in USSF D-2 League play Wednesday night at Stade Saputo in Montreal.

The Whitecaps are on a five-game league unbeaten streak after earning a 0-0 draw in St. Louis June 26. The draw also kept Vancouver four points ahead of Montreal for the lead in the NASL Conference.

"The guys have worked hard through these away games, especially in the hot conditions that we have played in," Thordarson told whitecapsfc.com.

The Impact welcome Vancouver back to Montreal looking to defend a three-game undefeated run.

Montreal holds a competitive edge against Vancouver when playing on home turf. Since the opening of Stade Saputo in 2008, Vancouver has only won once in front of Montreal fans.

"Montreal is always a difficult place to play, and I'm sure it will be again on Wednesday," said Thordarson.

In their last three matches this season, the Impact and Whitecaps have played to draws, including two 1-1 finishes during the 2010 Nutrilite Canadian Championship.

Montreal is familiar territory for Whitecaps captain Martin Nash and right fullback Chris Williams. Both players previously played for the Impact.

Impact goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic, striker Eduardo Sebrango and midfielders Tony Donatelli and David Testo all previously wore the blue and white for Vancouver before heading to Quebec.

Wednesday's rival match marks the 51st all-time meeting between Montreal and Vancouver and the fourth of six meetings during the 2010 season.

Game Notes: Vancouver will be without newly acquired Alex Elliot, who is waiting for his international transfer certificate…Marlon James and Cornelius Stewart will also miss Wednesday's match…Goalkeeper Dan Plec and Mouloud Akloul remain sidelined.
