The Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced Tuesday that the club has traded midfielders Ricardo Sanchez and Jonathan Steele to FC Tampa Bay for future considerations.

Sanchez played in 13 of the Whitecaps United States Soccer Federation Division-2 Professional League regular season matches and three Nutrilite Canadian Championship games this season. The native of Guadalajara, Mexico, scored one goal in 454 minutes of action.

The 28-year-old joined Vancouver in November 2009 after stints with former United Soccer Leagues First Division clubs Minnesota Thunder and California Victory.

Steele has played in 12 USSF D-2 matches and three NCC games for 844 minutes of action. Prior to joining the Whitecaps in December 2009, the native of Larne, Northern Ireland, spent two seasons with the USL First Division club the Puerto Rico Islanders.

The midfielder also played for the Rochester Rhinos, Carolina RailHawks and former USL-1 club the Syracuse Salty Dogs.

The Whitecaps are back in action Thursday at Swangard Stadium. Vancouver will face Major League Soccer expansion cousins the Portland Timbers at 7:30 p.m.
