VANCOUVER -- A former Mountie who was the senior officer involved in the death of Robert Dziekanski is expected to learn today whether he'll be convicted or acquitted of perjury.

Former corporal Benjamin (Monty) Robinson was charged along with three other officers for their testimony at the public inquiry into Dziekanski's death.

The officers were summoned to Vancouver's airport in the early morning of Oct. 17, 2007, and within seconds one of them stunned Dziekanski repeatedly with a Taser.

The Crown alleged the four officers colluded on a story to tell homicide investigators and then lied again at the public inquiry.

Const. Bill Bentley was acquitted of the perjury charge in 2013, while Const. Kwesi Millington was convicted on largely the same evidence earlier this year.

Robinson was convicted of obstruction of justice in an unrelated case involving an accident that killed a motorcycle driver in October 2008.
