An Abbotsford, B.C. man has serious injuries after a van crashed into his living room, throwing him several feet from his chair.

The van, which was carrying nine people at the time, veered off the road near Trethewey St. around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday before striking the home.

The van hit the bungalow so hard it went straight through the garage and carried on right into the living room, before coming to rest against the back wall.

Two other family members in the home at the time were unharmed.

Some of the people who were crammed into the tiny van were also hurt. In total, four people were taken to hospital and treated for various injuries.

Witnesses tell CTV News the minivan was fishtailing down the street moments before the crash.

Police have ruled out alcohol as a factor, but are investigating whether a pre-existing medical condition may be to blame.
