A University of British Columbia student has pleaded guilty to assaulting a young woman on the university’s campus earlier this year.
Tyrell Craig, 27, pleaded guilty to attacking the female student while in Richmond court on Tuesday. He was originally charged with sexual assault of the young woman, but this was later changed to assault.
Craig also pleded guilty to assaulting a police officer. He will be sentenced in the fall.
After leaving court, Craig declined to speak with reporters and ran from cameras.
In March, a young woman was confronted in the lobby of Totem Park Residence at UBC early in the morning. She was grabbed by her neck and dragged outside to a poorly-lit area, but managed to break free.
Tyrell was nabbed by campus security shortly after, and was later arrested by RCMP.
Police have not linked Craig to several unsolved sexual assaults at UBC from 2013.
