Fraser Valley residents looking to ride in style have two more options for commuting to Vancouver with the launch of a new luxury bus service and daily 12-minutes flights.

Beginning July 16, Island Express Air will begin offering rush-hour flights between Abbotsford and Vancouver International Airport starting at $49 for a one-way ticket. The company’s president Gerry Visser believes that gridlock along Highway 1 is so bad, people will be willing to pay to fly right over it.

“There's the business traveller who is just completely fed up with the hour-and-a-half to two hour gruelling drive,” he told CTV News.

“There has to be a better way to get to Vancouver, and this is it.”

The 12-minute flight time doesn’t include the 15 minutes required for checking in, and with taxes and fees, the total price to fly one-way comes to about $85.

For those looking for a slightly less expensive option, the Pacific Commuter luxury coach line is now offering daily service to downtown Vancouver from Langley, Cloverdale and Aldergrove -- complete with free Wi-Fi, a kitchenette and bike storage. A monthly membership costs $395, but the company is offering week-long free trials for the curious.

Those who sign on for an annual pass will also get reserved seating, a subscription to The Globe and Mail and a membership with the Car2Go car-sharing service.
