Two women are dead and a man is in hospital in critical condition after a four-vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway roughly 30 kilometres east of Revelstoke Friday afternoon.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. and closed the highway for several hours while Revelstoke Volunteer Fire Department, Revelstoke RCMP, and Emergency Health Services responded to the scene.
Police said the highway was expected to reopen at approximately 10 p.m., but advised motorists to check in hourly with DriveBC for more information.
The cause of the accident has not been determined, but police confirmed that there was packed snow on the road and slippery conditions when it occurred.
