Three women are dead and five more people are in hospital after a horrific accident on the Malahat Highway on Vancouver Island.
The BC Coroners Service confirmed the deaths.
The BC Ambulance Service said the two-vehicle accident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday between Duncan and Victoria.
The accident happened when, on wet roads and with poor visibility, a small Honda crossed the centre line and crashed into a pickup truck.
Three ambulances and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene and took five people to hospital.
A child was among the victims.
Two of the five injured are in critical condition and three are in stable condition at hospital in Victoria.
Investigators are trying to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Vancouver Island's Malahat Highway has a notorious reputation for being a dangerous route to travel.
B.C.'s government said it plans to spend millions fixing up the highway to make it safer.
