Two men and one woman have been arrested after an early-morning high-speed crash in Surrey. All three are known to police.

Surrey RCMP said the trio entered the city in two stolen Ford Escapes at around 1 a.m. Friday. Police from other jurisdictions and B.C. RCMP’s Air 1 helicopter were following the vehicles from “a safe distance.”

Police said the vehicles were stolen in Chilliwack. The chase went through Abbotsford and Langley on Highway 1 before entering Surrey.

At roughly 1:30 a.m., one of the vehicles drove off the road and into a ditch near 64th Avenue and 156th Street in order to avoid a police roadblock. The driver, a 27-year-old man from Surrey, was not injured. He was arrested at the scene.

The other vehicle kept going, eventually stopping around 2 a.m. at a parking lot in the 7100 block of Hall Road. Police said the driver, a 34-year-old man from Langley, and the passenger, a 23-year-old woman from Delta, fled on foot. They were later located with the help of police dogs and arrested.

All three suspects are facing charges, including possession of stolen property, flight from police, dangerous driving, and breach of conditional sentence order. Police said they found additional items that may have been stolen in the vehicles.

The three suspects were scheduled to appear in court in Surrey on Friday. Police did not include their names in a release.
