Two passengers were airlifted to hospital early Saturday morning after an allegedly drunk teenager veered off the road in Langley, B.C.

Mounties say the car was driving westbound on River Road with three occupants, all young Langley men, at around 12:30 a.m. when it drove off the right hand shoulder, became airborne and flipped several times.

A 19-year-old passenger sustained a life-threatening head injury in the crash and a 20-year-old suffered an unconfirmed number of broken bones.

They were taken to Royal Columbian Hospital for treatment, where the younger passenger remains in critical condition.

Cpl. Holly Marks said the 19-year-old driver, who was not injured in the crash, was taken to the Langley RCMP detachment for a breathalyzer and blew over the legal limit.

"These three young individuals had their lives ahead of them," Marks said. "This will impact them over the rest of their lives, over one decision to drink and drive."

Police are recommending alcohol related driving charges in the crash.
