Two men are in the hospital after a shooting occurred outside a downtown Vancouver restaurant on Friday night.
Vancouver Police spokesperson Const. Jana McGuinness said the two men were walking out of the Italian Kitchen restaurant on Alberni Street around midnight when a lone gunman approached them and began firing. The gunman then fled on foot.
"More than a dozen people were nearby at the time of the shooting and we know that the potential for innocent people to have been caught up in this violence was very real," McGuinness said in a written statement.
The two men are in serious condition. Police have not identified a suspect, but investigators say the shooting was targeted.
