Surrey RCMP are investigating a series of early morning incidents that involved what sounded like gunshots and a collision that put one person in hospital.

Seven men are in custody and an innocent driver is in hospital in two unrelated incidents, according to Surrey RCMP.

At around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers pulled over a car near 129 Street and 106 Avenue with three male occupants. While searching the car, police found a handgun. A subject was taken into custody and the handgun seized.

A short distance away, gunshots were heard and a vehicle was seen fleeing the area. Police found the car, which had four occupants, but the driver fled. As the car attempted to negotiate a turn, it crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of 98 Avenue and 128 Street. An occupant in the northbound vehicle was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The four occupants in the suspect vehicle were taken into custody.

RCMP are conducting a full investigation into the incidents.
