A prominent Vancouver lawyer has been named as special prosecutor to determine whether charges should be laid in the death of Robert Dziekanski.

Richard Peck was appointed to the position Friday afternoon to review a previous decision from B.C.'s Criminal Justice Branch not to prosecute any of the four officers involved in Dziekanski's death at Vancouver International Airport.

The Braidwood Commission released a damning report Friday finding that the RCMP officers used too much force when they stunned the Polish national with a Taser in 2007.
