A provincial court judge in Abbotsford, B.C., has ruled four young boys need protection from their father, a man he calls angry, profane and in denial about his abuse of the children.
The B.C. Director of Child, Family and Community Service asked the court for a protection order for the four boys who range in age from eight to 13.
The court heard the father -- who isn't named to protect his children -- punished his sons by choking them, twisting their heads or squishing them until they couldn't breathe.
The father told social workers that physical discipline should hurt because if it didn't he would be laughed at by his children.
But Judge K.D. Skilnick ruled it wasn't corrective discipline, but that the father was unable to manage his anger and loss of control.
He ruled the children need government protection and placed them in the care of their mother, adding he hoped the father would try to rebuild relationships with his sons who were damaged by their father's pride and personality disorder.
